It’s not a secret that we love bourbon coffees. Naturally sweet and full-bodied, bourbons seem to check every box we look for in a great coffee. This pink bourbon from La Primavera is new to us, and maybe the honeymoon phase is still in effect, but it has quickly risen to be of our favorites.
La Primavera is a relatively small, second-generation coffee farm near the town of Bruselas in the Pilalito municipality in the department of Huila, Colombia. It initially consisted of cattle pastures, however around 1995, traditional coffee varieties such as caturra and castillo began to be grown. After 2005, work began with quality coffees, and some varieties have been changed to be planted, especially “rosé” bourbon. The farm also has 8 hectares of natural reserve. Today, a variety of coffees are processed, including natural and washed coffees.
Producer José Oliver Galindez worked in the fields of his father’s coffee crops since he was a child. He later studied agricultural engineering and worked with fertilizers, but then left to start his own coffee project. He began as a cupper in 2005 and started cultivating quality coffee soon after. Today, he dedicates himself solely to producing specialty coffees and conducting research on agricultural machinery that makes life easier for producers.
If you like our light-roasted coffees, this one is not one missed.
